Yorktown Reserve

The Work
Yorktown Reserve is a new development project located at the bustling Yorktown Mall in Lombard, IL. BERGER was brought on by Synergy Construction Group to tackle the critical site prep work—specifically underground sewer installation and mass grading across a large, active site.
With over 500,000 square feet of project area and 7,000+ feet of pipe to install, this job required not just technical expertise, but seamless coordination and consistent communication with all partners onsite.
The Challenge
Working in a live environment like a mall parking lot comes with its own unique set of challenges. With businesses remaining open and the public constantly nearby, BERGER had to maintain a safe, efficient job site without disrupting daily operations.
Additionally, the team had to account for a large excavation—left behind after a portion of the mall was demolished—which significantly shaped how we planned material use and managed resources across the site.
On top of that, much of our work had to be carefully sequenced with other contractors. We had to be ready to move quickly once areas opened up, maintaining momentum without compromising safety or quality.

The Results
This project is a clear example of how BERGER brings the “Always at the Ready” mindset to life. Our ability to respond quickly, stay flexible, and coordinate in real time has allowed us to stay on schedule while navigating a complex, high-traffic site.
We’re especially proud of how our team has collaborated closely with other trades and upheld strict safety standards, even while working in full view of the public.
At BERGER, we don’t just move dirt—we move projects forward, no matter the setting.
