The Work
BERGER partnered with Joseph Nicholas Construction on the Barrington Porsche project, supporting early-stage site development including subgrade preparation, mass excavation, haul-off operations, storm sewer installation, sanitary utilities, and the start of a large basement excavation.
The project involves extensive earthmoving operations and below-grade work to prepare the site for future vertical construction.
The Challenge
A significant basement excavation created tight logistical conditions across the site, requiring careful coordination between trucking operations, utilities, grading crews, and multiple subcontractors working simultaneously.
In addition, early project timelines shifted from the original plan, requiring the team to quickly adapt sequencing and operations to maintain momentum and keep the project moving safely and efficiently.
The Result
Working closely with Joseph Nicholas Construction and the project owner, BERGER crews adjusted the plan in real time and continued progressing through changing conditions and logistical challenges.
Through proactive coordination, communication, and experienced field leadership, the team maintained steady progress while managing large-scale excavation and utility work within a constrained site environment.
